Santa Barbara native, Monique Limón, has been a member of the California State Senate since 2020 and is a former state representative. Not to mention, she is a former Don. Limón has always been involved in her communities. As a high school student she was a part of the Varsity Cheerleading team as well as in the Associated Student Body (ASB).
Once out of high school, Limón attended University of California at Berkeley and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in sociology, as well as a Masters degree from Columbia University. Students’ education is one of Limón’s biggest priorities; making sure students are able to get the resources they need to learn is extremely important to her. Limón was fortunate enough to be able to work at the Santa Barbara Unified School District for six years. Using this to her advantage, she mentored and advised many students from Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) and UCSB. Limón was able to push them in order for them to succeed in a higher education and in their professional careers.
Limón has an upcoming election against 19-year-old Elijah Mack for California’s State Senate. The election will cover topics such as increasing levels of violent crime, drug abuse, and inflated costs of living.
As the years have gone by, Limón has made an incredible impact with her presence and continues to do so up to this day by supporting the schools and community of Santa Barbara. Limóns’ story is proof of the power and impact one individual can make when they are passionate about serving their community.
