Heap of the Week: David Marin

This month’s edition of Heap of The Week goes to David Marin and his white 1984 Chevy Corvette with a red interior.

When Marin first started looking into cars, his first choice was a C4 Corvette, but then he got interested in other cars, which led him to find the Chevy on Facebook Marketplace.

Marin’s favorite thing about the Corvette is the digital gauges on the dash, ”they are retro 80‘s kind of technology which I think is cool. My least favorite thing is sometimes the pop up (roof) gets stuck.” His favorite memory is when he brought it back home after buying the car because he had  never been in a car quite like this one before, so being able to drive it home was exciting.

Although Marin is currently working on his car at the moment to get it fixed up, his favorite experience so far has been, “Once I realized that the top was removable, learning to take it off was really an interesting experience for me.”

Currently he is rebuilding the engine, because like any old car needs tune ups. ”But I’m not currently trying to modify it because the engine it has is kind of limited. I’m kind of trying to work it up to stock it again.” The fastest Marin has pushed his car to the limit was about 90 mph, but “this caused the hose to rake so I did get kind of stranded on it last week, so I have been taking it easy lately.”

Something interesting that Marin loves about his car is, “The hood opens the complete opposite of any car, sort of like a (Formula 1) car. Also the pop-up headlights are something I love in a car and that’s a key feature of what makes this car so interesting, because newer cars usually won’t have this feature.”

David is currently working at the movie theater saving up for new changes to his car. He hopes sometime in the future he has saved up enough money that it will be ready to run and look to his standards.

That wraps up November’s Heap of the Week, thank you for reading!
