Below you will find three Christmas playlists with decidedly different vibes perfect for any holiday
gathering. The first celebrates the classics, featuring traditional choral music and excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker suite. For this I selected the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra’s album Greatest Christmas Classics volumes 1 & 2, featuring lush orchestral arrangements and the exquisite Crouch End Festival Chorus. For the Nutcracker suite, I chose the Russian National Orchestra’s recording conducted by Mikhail Pletnev as it is beautifully orchestrated, and it seemed fitting to include a version from Tchaikovsky’s homeland. This playlist would be a great addition to Christmas Eve dinner or any event with the whole family. I personally have very fond memories of singing all the traditional carols with my grandma as we both learned them as children. The second playlist is a personal favorite, as it features classic artists from the big band era, such as Bing Cosby and Dean Martin, as well as plenty of hits from one of my favorite singers, the great Frank Sinatra. Sinatra’s “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” stands alone as my all time favorite Christmas song, along with Dean Martin’s “Silver Bells” and Earha Kitt’s “Santa Baby.” With cozy vintage vibes, this playlist is perfect for decorating the tree or opening gifts on Christmas Day. The third playlist consists of modern holiday hits that would set the tone for an epic Christmas party or add festive vibes to any holiday hang out. Of course, it begins with the queen Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and includes Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me,” both naughty and nice version. “Enough For Me” by rising star Jordi and various selections from Dolly Parton’s recently released holiday album Holly Dolly Christmas are some of my favorites from this one. Whether you stick to the classics or prefer modern hits, these playlists are sure to bring Christmas cheer to everyone’s heart.
