Dear Readers,
Happy Holidays! As we approach the end of 2024, Santa Barbara High can look back on many historic moments from this year. The classes present for the 2024-2025 school year have seen the 47th U.S. presidential election and witnessed the lead up to what proved to be a momentous election cycle. While this election cycle has been divisive in many ways, the presence of two vastly different candidates has ignited a passionate rhetoric about public policy in the SBHS student body. This passion for the world around us will force students to think critically about the future we are entering as emerging adults and citizens of the United States. As we become the next round of eligible voters, the need for critical thinking and consideration for our future has never been greater.
At The Forge, we have had the honor of serving as the voice of Santa Barbara High in a very historic year, both for our school and our nation. While the many ups and downs that face our world can create negativity and weigh heavy on the minds of young people everywhere, this holiday season provides the perfect opportunity to give back to our community. The need for kindness and understanding has never been greater than at this point in history. It is my hope that the writing within The Forge will remind readers to think about their impact on our school community and the legacy of kindness that they can leave behind.
Xoxo,
