Heap of the Week: Max Weddle and “The Red Rocket”

To start off the 2024-2025 school year we have our very first Heap of the Week, “The Red Rocket.”  Max Weddle is a junior here at Santa Barbara High School and is the proud owner of this notorious beast of a car. The name, “Red Rocket,” originated from his friend Derek Jaye. Maxwell got the heap a month ago from his dad

“It was handed down to me,” Weddle said. The car can hold four people (illegally it can hold way more) and runs on diesel. The top speed the car can hit is 70 miles per hour on the freeway “safely,” but if there was no risk of something bad happening to the car it can go up to 85 miles per hour. A downside to the car is “it’s really slow and it gave me a ticket the other day.” Despite the car’s difficulty with high speed, Weddle still loves sharing his prized possession with his friends.  ”I love driving around my friends in my car,” he stated. The car is an impressive automobile and his pride for it was evident. Keep your eyes peeled and you may catch The Red Rocket.
