This season, the boys water polo team made an impressive push to win the Division three CIF championship beating Northwood High School in the semifinals and Shurr High School in the finals with a score of 9-7. In the final three minutes, tied at 7-7, Senior, Chase Raisin broke the tie with an impressive goal. With under one minute left Senior Dylan Fogg had a goal that sealed the deal for the programs first CIF title since 2006. Coached by Mark Walsh and Sofie Trabucco, the boys went into the season as the top rank in the Division three division. Fogg says that the team was most excited for the game against San Marcos this year because, “It’s a huge rivalry and SM is bad this year.”

According to Senior goalie, Hunter Brownell, the team this year consisted of mostly seniors, juniors, and some sophomores that have stepped up. The captains that led the team were Dylan Fogg, Chase Raisin, and Hunter Brownell who are all long-time varsity players for the waterpolo team. Throughout the season, Raisin and Fogg led the team in the most goals. Recently, Raisin signed his letter of intent to attend and play water polo at Santa Clara University. The other talented seniors on the team were Adam Coffin and Adam Kubinyi. When asked about the teams depth of players, Hunter Brownell said, “We’re a very well rounded team with players who can compete at the varsity level.” Most of the boys on the team play club water polo as well, to help progress their skills, get college scout’s attention, and bond with their teammates they play with during the high school season. 

Last season, the team ended with a 19-15 overall and 2-3 in league. They started the season off strong with a 10-6 win against San Marcos at home. Throughout the season, they worked together to make their way into the CIF playoffs and eventually ended the season with a 8-5 loss to Los Osos in the semifinals. With only 3 graduating seniors, last season the team didn’t lose much depth or starters. This season ended with a much sweeter ending for the boys. Congratulations to the team, and especially the seniors on winning in their final high school water polo match in spectacular fashion.
