Speak No Evil is the U.S. remake of the Danish thriller by the same name. It is a great new version of the original physiological horror film that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats from start to finish. This remake is similar enough to keep the intense psychological tension of the original but it still maintains a fresh new dynamic.

The film is about an American and a British family who meet on vacation. The British family seems nice and charming, but after they invite the American family to their farm in the country, the Americans find themselves in a horrifying situation. It revolves around the unsettling interactions between these two families that turns into a chilling realization of why they were really invited. The plot changes in ways you won’t see coming and you’ll find yourself hooked from the first scene.

The best part of the film was its compelling suspense. The film balances a psychological thriller with terrifying jump-scares, making for an exciting experience that will stay in your mind long after the credits roll.

The cast’s performance in Speak No Evil is nothing short of outstanding. James McAvoy was very captivating and made even the audience uncomfortable with his out of line jokes. I found myself uneasy wondering if he was joking or serious many times throughout the movie. The cast was able to bring their characters to life in a way that felt unsettling and strange.Overall, Speak No Evil did not disappoint. If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers, I definitely recommend you go see it. As a horror fan myself, I would absolutely see it again and it’s a great horror movie to start off the spooky season with.
