In light of what seems one of the toughest years we may ever experience, history has been made which will change the future for the better. Not only has a vaccine for the corona virus been made and is ready to be distributed but Dr. Hadiyah-Nicole Green has found a cure for cancer in mice using nanoparticles. Her biggest mission is to win the war against cancer, one of the longest wars in human history.

Unlike traditional cancer treatments this particular treatment does no harm. It does not require chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery. She has since received a 1.1 million dollar grant to continue further research and development of her platform cancer therapy that uses laser- activated nanoparticles to completely eliminate tumors after a single treatment. 

In addition, Dr. Hadiyah-Nicole Green developed a 4 in 1 platform for early detection, imaging, targeting, and selective treatment for anal, head, neck, breast, colorectal, brain, lung, ovarian, cervical, pancreatic, skin, and prostate cancer. Ultimately her goal is to successfully transfer these treatments from the laboratory to humans and save 8.8 million people from dying each year worldwide. 

She also founded the nonprofit organization, the Ora Lee Smith Cancer Research Foundation, in memory of her late aunt. Her mission behind the organization is: “to change the way cancer is treated and reduce the suffering of cancer patients by providing treatment that is accessible, affordable, and most importantly effective”.

 Within the next 3-5 years, they plan to demonstrate that photo-nano-therapy is a multi-cancer treatment for a variety of tumors. In the long term they envision developing medical devices and providing low cost to patients, and outpatient treatments with minimal side effects as opposed to surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.
