On February 28th, 2022, Gavin Newsom made a major announcement that the statewide mask mandate in K-12 Schools would end on March 12th. Gavin Newsom stated that California is deciding to update its masking guidance with declining cases and hospitalizations in the state. The mandate will end almost precisely two years after the pandemic began, marking the start of the “endemic” phase protocols that Gavin Newsom has started to roll out all over the Golden State. In addition to California, Oregon and Washington will be dropping their school mask mandates on March 12th.
